New?

Thanks again for checking us out through our website. Joining us for a worship service would be a great way for us to get to know each other better. Our worship service is at 10:15am on Sunday mornings. Our building is located at 19939 County Highway D20, just west of Iowa Falls.

We also have Sunday School at 9:00am every Sunday for all ages, along with a staffed nursery for infants and toddlers.

During a time when many were unable to gather with us physically, we were grateful for the capability to share a weekly livestream of our worship services. While we may still livestream some events in the future, June 27, 2021 was the last weekly worship service livestream. As many of us have realized, watching a gathering take place on a screen is a very poor substitute for actually gathering with others.

From now on, you can find video recordings of the sermon on YouTube and our website or you can podcast audio recordings. Those will typically be posted on Monday. If you have benefited from our livestream, we are confident you will benefit much more by gathering with us in person.

So please join us, as you are able, at 10:15 on Sunday mornings. If you are not near us on a Sunday morning, we encourage you to go be with a gospel-centered church wherever you are. If you are unable to join us for some other reason but consider this your church home, we'd love to connect with you personally so don't hesitate to reach out so we can set up a visit.

What we believe

As a church, we desire to be molded by God's Word and motivated by God's glory as we make disciples throughout God's world.

Molded by God's Word

Because God’s Word is inspired, authoritative, and inerrant, we desire to be a people rooted and grounded in the Word of God.  God’s Word is living and active and we trust that the Holy Spirit, working through God's Word, will accomplish God’s will for our church.  Therefore, the Bible will be the foundation of our preaching, our singing, our praying, our discipleship, our mission, and our fellowship.

Motivated by God's Glory

God is full of glory and we desire to be a church who delights in the glory of God.  The glory of God will be our motivation for everything we do in life.  We see the glory of God most clearly in the gospel of Jesus Christ and we will therefore center our lives on the gospel.

Making Disciples throughout God's World

Because God deserves the worship of all people, we desire to be a church that knows Jesus and makes Him known.  We want to see the gospel transform us deeply and spread widely.  Because He first loved us we want to grow in our love for one another, serve one another in the name of Jesus, and proclaim the good news often.

the gospel

If you are around our church for long, you’ll probably hear the word gospel used a lot.  It simply means good news.  So what is the good news?  It begins with the holy God creating humans in His image and creating all things for His glory.  Yet due to our  rebellion and disobedience, all of creation is cursed and we actually prefer the temporary pleasures of sin over the eternal pleasures of God!  As a result we stand condemned before our holy God.

But because of His great love and mercy, God prepares a way for spiritually dead, broken image-bearers to be made alive.  God sends His eternal Son, Jesus, to live the obedient life we failed to live and to suffer on the cross the punishment that we deserved to suffer.  Three days after His death, Jesus was resurrected, breaking the power of sin and death.  He promises to return to be the final Judge and to set up His eternal Kingdom.

Our eternity depends on how we respond to this good news.

Our hope is that, by God’s grace you will repent of your sin and put your faith in Christ alone.  He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Our Leaders and staff

  • Our Lead Pastor

My name is Jeremy Nelson and I began serving as the pastor of IFEFC in January of 2013.  I grew up in MN in a loving, Christian family.  At the age of 19, God rescued me from a life of self-glorification and gave me a new heart as I repented of my sin and trusted in Jesus.  Aside from my salvation, God's greatest gift to me is my wife, Kirstin.  I've had the privilege of being her husband since 2001 and God has blessed our marriage with 3 incredible children (Annika, Isaiah, and Mariah). This isn't my first time in Iowa as I graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City with a degree in sociology and secondary education.  But following God’s call to pastoral ministry, we moved back to Minnesota so I could attend seminary at Bethel University where I received my Master of Divinity.  Prior to coming to Iowa Falls, I served as a youth pastor for seven and a half years in South Dakota.  I am passionate about God’s glory and am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to love, lead, and serve the people here as we together fix our eyes on Jesus.  I would love to get together with you for a cup of coffee (if you don't drink coffee, I'll just have to drink my cup and your cup!).

  • Our Associate Pastor

My name is Nick Dykema, and I began serving as the associate pastor of IFEFC in June of 2021! Jesus saved me, and I started following Him, when I was 5 years old. I understood very little of what that meant at the time, by God’s grace I grew and continued to love and worship Him as Lord and Savior of my life. My parents faithfully raised me in the Church and modeled what it looks like to live a Christ-centered life. I deeply love Christ’s bride (the Church) and His Word! And these joys, alongside the Spirit’s leading and elders’ confirming, prompted me towards a seminary education at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota. I have played piano for nearly 15 years, dabbled in guitar, and enjoyed writing my own music, too. I love reading all sorts of books. I am also fond of fishing with my grandpa, dad, and brother, whenever I get the chance. I like walks, biking, frisbee, reading, board games, and anything else with my wife, Jen! We were married in April of 2020, and we praise God for how kind He has been to us through the gift of each other. Jen and I are so excited to live, serve, and pray in the Iowa Falls community!

  • Our Secretary

Kirstin Nelson has been in the church office since the summer of 2019 serving as our church secretary. And yes, if you noticed the last name, she is married to Jeremy! You'll find Kirstin in the office Monday-Thursday of each week from 8:30-noon. If you have questions about ministries or need assistance with something, she'd love to help. You can contact Kirstin at office@ifefree.org or by calling 641.648.3305.

  • Our Custodians

The entire Fincham family helps keep the church building clean and ready for ministry each week. Besides the hours they spend cleaning the church building, Chad and Rachel currently keep busy with a variety of other jobs and raising their 3 young boys.

  • Our Assistant Custodian

Devi Brekke serves our church body as an assistant custodian and comes in on Monday mornings to tidy up the church building after the weekend. You will rarely find Devi without a smile on her face and her joy is contagious!
