Associate pastor opening

Iowa Falls Evangelical Free Church of Iowa Falls, IA is seeking a full-time associate pastor.  As a church, we desire to become increasingly molded by God’s Word and motivated by God’s glory as we make disciples throughout God’s world.  Our mission is simply to know Christ and make Him known.  An associate pastor would join our current staff and leaders to help us more effectively accomplish this mission and pursue this vision together as a church family.  Our staff currently includes a full-time lead pastor along with a part-time secretary and part-time custodians.

Following a number of years of the church being shepherded by a solo pastor and an active team of elders, our church decided in 2017 to add an associate pastor to our staff.  God provided us with a man who served our church very well in a variety of ways until God called him away to serve a church in need of a solo pastor.  As we seek our next associate pastor, we are looking for a man who can use and develop his gifts by serving our church in three primary areas.

1.       Youth/Children’s/Family Ministry: The number of children and youth in our church is growing steadily and we long to raise up disciples of Jesus in this next generation.  Our associate pastor would serve us by spending about 50% of his time directly shepherding parents and youth as well as recruiting, developing, encouraging and equipping leaders for children’s ministry.

2.       Worship/Music Ministry: God has blessed our church with a number of gifted musicians who help us worship God together in song.  These servants and our whole church would be blessed to have an associate pastor who could commit 25% of his time to leading our worship teams both musically and pastorally.

3.       General Pastoral Ministry: Our associate pastor would join our lead pastor and elders in shepherding the 200+ people who call our church home.  The associate pastor would be given opportunities to spend about 25% of his time using and developing his gifts in the areas of pastoral care, preaching, teaching, etc.

We are looking for a man called by God to pastoral ministry who meets the qualifications of an elder as laid out in Scripture.  A growing relationship with God through time in the Word, personal/family prayer, and fellowship is vital.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, he must love God supremely, love others well, and have the humility necessary to take direction from and work alongside other leaders in the church.  He must have a large capacity for meaningful relationships coupled with the ability to think systematically about engaging and evangelizing the lost and establishing and equipping believers.

Iowa Falls Evangelical Free Church was established in 1983.  We have experienced numerical growth over the past few years with our Sunday morning worship service attendance going from 85 in 2012 to 135 in (pre-pandemic) 2020.  In our small town of about 5000 people, we have long been known as the church committed to faithfully teaching the Bible while welcoming and loving one another.  In recent years, we have become more diverse both by ethnicity and age.  We enjoy long-standing relationships with local and global missions partners, most of whom are or have been members of our church family.  Whether overseas or right here in our small town and the surrounding area, there is great opportunity for gospel growth.  Thank you for your interest in being a part of it.
