awana

On Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00 from Sept. - April,

a large troop of loving volunteers work together to make

AWANA night the best night of the week for kids.

AWANA is an acronym which stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (from 2 Timothy 2:15).   Kids who will start Kindergarten in the fall of 2018--6th Grade are separated into three separate clubs for the evening.  Their night is divided between a time of high-energy games, a small group time focused on reciting and talking about memorized Bible verses, and a time of large group music and relevant Bible teaching.

Sunday School

Sunday School starts at 9:00am for all ages, preschool through adult.  God has blessed our church with some loving and gifted teachers who engage all of our children and youth with clear and relevant teaching.  We want them to be molded by God's Word and motivated by God's glory as we equip them to make disciples in their world.  As the number of children continues to grow, we've added an extra class so here is the plan for 2017-2018:

Preschool in Classroom 2A  |  DiscipleLand

K-Prep - Kindergarten in 2B  |  DiscipleLand

1st-2nd Grade in Classroom 5  |  The Gospel Project

3rd-5th Grade in Classroom 3  |  The Gospel Project

6th-8th Grade in Classroom 6  |  Explore the Bible

9th-12th Grade in Classroom 7  | For All People

one-to-one

youth discipleship

Discipleship happens in the context of relationships.  For a number of years now, our youth have benefited from our 1-1 discipleship program.  The program is for students in grades 7-12 who are regular Sunday School and youth group attenders who would also like to be discipled/mentored by an adult in a one-to-one setting. If someone is interested, they should contact Jorja Timm and we’ll get it arranged. They can start at any time.

Middle school youth

We want 6th-8th grade students to know Jesus and make Him known.  In addition to Sunday School and 1-1 mentoring, many of our middle school students participate or serve in our AWANA ministry.  This is a great opportunity to grow.  In 2017-2018, instead of a weekly youth group gathering, our middle school youth will meet once/month for a special activity organized by volunteers with teaching from Pastor Jeremy.  Our hope is that this will be a great supplement to the other growth opportunities like AWANA, mentoring, and Sunday School while also giving the students a chance to invite friends and to develop relationships with each other.

HIgh school youth

The high school youth group at Iowa Falls Evangelical Free Church exists to encourage and equip our young people to become disciples of Jesus Christ. Our emphasis is on reading and studying the Word of God, glorifying Him in all we do and learning how to carry out His commands. Our youth leaders are Mark & Linda Guy and Jess and Terri Peterson. We meet at the home of Mark and Linda Guy on Sunday evenings during the school year to share a meal, discuss the events of the week and read and study God's Word.

Nursery

Jesus loves little children and so do we.  If you'd like, you can drop off your children in our nursery and rest assured that they will be cared for by a loving adult during both Sunday school and the worship service.  To keep things safe and manageable, our nursery is available for children up to 3 years of age.

If you would rather stay with your little one but would rather not be in the midst of the crowd during the worship service, we also have a cry room available across from the nursery.  The service will be shown on a TV in that room so you can still be engaged in that way.

VBS

For the past few years, we have teamed up with 3 other local evangelical churches to reach out to kids in our community with the gospel through Vacation Bible School.  We meet at the IFA High School for 4 mornings in midsummer.
