awana

AWANA is an acronym which stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (from 2 Timothy 2:15).   AWANA is a children's program that meets during the school year on Wednesday nights. Our time together this fall will include a small group time focused on reciting and talking about memorized Bible verses and a time of large group music

and relevant Bible teaching.

For the fall of 2020, due to social distancing

and our limited building space,

we have limits on how many children we can accommodate.

We love having a full program and long for that day

in the future when we no longer have space restrictions!

Please call the church office at 648.3305

to see if there is space for your child.

AWANA will resume on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

This year, we will meet from 6:30-7:30pm.

Sunday School

For the fall of 2020, Sunday School happens on Sundays at 9:00am for children ages preschool-high school.  God has blessed our church with some loving and gifted teachers who engage all of our children and youth with clear and relevant teaching.  We want them to be molded by God's Word and motivated by God's glory as we equip them to make disciples in their world.

Sunday School will resume on October 4, 2020. We will be following social distancing guidelines with six feet of separation between students in each of our classrooms. Hand sanitizer will be at the door of each classroom (masks are optional) and we will sanitize each classroom before coming together again. We ask that if your children are sick, or have been exposed to those who are, that you keep them home.

one-to-one youth discipleship

Discipleship happens in the context of relationships.  For a number of years now, our youth have benefited from our 1-1 discipleship program.  The program is for youth in grades 7-12 who are regular Sunday School and youth group attenders who would also like to be discipled/mentored by an adult in a one-to-one setting. If someone is interested, they should contact Pastor Stan Johnson and we’ll get it arranged. They can start at any time.

Middle school youth Group

We want 6th-8th grade youth to know Jesus and make Him known. In addition to Sunday School and 1-1 mentoring, many of our middle school students participate or serve in our AWANA ministry.  This is a great opportunity to grow. We also want to give them a space to learn and grow together with others of the same age.

Plans are being made for what middle school youth group

will look like in the fall of 2020. Please check back soon

for more information.

HIgh school youth Group

The high school youth group at Iowa Falls Evangelical Free Church exists to encourage and equip our young people to become disciples of Jesus Christ. Our emphasis is on reading and studying the Word of God, glorifying Him in all we do, and learning how to carry out His commands. Leaders for this group are Mark and Linda Guy and Jess and Terri Peterson. We meet at the home of Mark and Linda Guy on Sunday evenings during the school year to share a meal, discuss the events of the week and read and study God's Word.  For more information about our high school youth group, contact the church office.

Begins again on Sunday, October 4, and

will meet from 6:00-8:00pm at the Guy's home.

Nursery

For now, we are unfortunately not able to offer the nursery and cry room.

Here is what you can expect when they are opened again, though.

Jesus loves little children and so do we.  If you'd like, you can drop off your children in our nursery and rest assured that they will be cared for by a loving adult during both Sunday school and the worship service.  To keep things safe and manageable, our nursery is available for children up to 3 years of age.

If you would rather stay with your little one but not be in the midst of the crowd during the worship service, we also have a cry room available across from the nursery.  The service will be shown on a TV in that room so you can still be engaged in that way.

VBS

For the past few years, we have teamed up with 3 other local evangelical churches to reach out to kids in our community with the gospel through Vacation Bible School.  We meet at the IF-A High School for 4 mornings in midsummer.
